Case Study

In 2000, India exported nearly 10 lakhs bicycles. In contract China exported around 20 million cycles. In the standard segment, bicycles are priced around Rs. 2000. Similar Chinese bicycles sell for $ 22 to 27 in African Markets where they compete with exports from India. Even if the landed cost of Chinese standard models is at $ 22, they cost about more than Rs. 1500 at retail level due to other costs such as import duty and retailer’s margin etc. Hero Cycles, a major producer in India has taken initiative to meet this challenge and has set up its R & D Department to upgrade its operations.

Case Study

An educational institute was established by an non-profit organisation in 1959 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and taught especially in Engineering subjects at graduate level. Now it has many branches in A class cities of Western India and metro cities. Now it wishes to teach its rural students the modern technology of agriculture through remote campuses and with tie up with a foreign agricultural university.
